Role Summary:

As a Digital Cinema Systems Administrator, you’ll be the go-to expert for maintaining and optimizing digital cinema systems. The Digital Cinema Systems team is responsible for the testing, development, and deployment of software and systems used to exhibit advertising, trailers, and feature content across 15 countries where Cinemark operates. Your technical prowess and problem-solving skills will ensure seamless operations and exceptional viewing experiences for our audiences. This role requires a blend of technical skills and business ability. You will be a key member of the Digital Cinema Systems team within the Technology Operations and Presentation (T.O.P) department, which oversees all technical equipment and software solutions in our theaters.

As Administrator, you will handle issue escalations from the T.O.P Digital Cinema Support Center, working with other departments, external partners, and vendors to support Digital Cinema systems. This involves investigating escalated issues, determining short-term workarounds, and finding long-term resolutions. You will also be responsible for documenting issues, providing training, and creating support documentation for the support center and the theater operations teams.

Additionally, you will assist with testing new software and hardware solutions before their release to the sites, including lab testing and beta testing at several theaters. You will work with software and hardware vendors on issues and enhancements to meet current and future needs of the Theater Technology and Theater Operations department.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Key responsibilities include ensuring team members follow processes, create work schedules, and develop rollout plans. You must maintain knowledge of relevant products to provide accurate solutions and act as a representative of the T.O.P. Systems team to our customers and vendors.

This role involves product management within the software/hardware development plans with multiple vendors and internal development teams at Cinemark. You will report to the Manager of Digital Cinema Systems and will oversee the vision for managing product requirements, documentation, and prioritization from both internal development and external business stakeholder perspectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Manage various projects (new software releases, hardware evaluations, etc.), including timelines.
  • Ensure all projects are implemented on time, within specifications, and without impacting theater operations.
  • Develop processes for the Digital Cinema Systems team to follow when supporting, escalating, and documenting issues.
  • Manage the software and hardware testing process (Beta sites).
  • Capture all issues and provide documentation for future software versions.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for digital cinema systems, including servers, projectors, and audio systems.
  • Act as a high-level point of escalation for Digital Cinema Systems technical issues.
  • Investigate issues and recommend corrective actions with the software applications utilized.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing application issues with varied content systems.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of all systems, including network configurations and security protocols.

Research and Development:

  • Conduct research and development activities to enhance digital cinema technologies.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge features and improvements in digital projection and sound systems.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions for the cinema industry.
  • Provide documentation for TOP team and theater operation team on new functionalities when software or hardware updates are released
  • Communicate high-level priority statuses to internal teams and business stakeholders.

Emergency Support:

  • Be available to assist in emergencies.
  • Carry a cell phone and be available for emergency systems support.

Product Management:

  • Understanding of foundational Product Portfolio Management.
  • Understanding of best practices in project management, including scaling Agile development.
  • Experience with scaled Agile methodologies (e.g., SaFe, Scrum of Scrums) would be an asset.
  • Be able to manage prioritization using frameworks like RICE or MoSCoW would be an asset.

Technical Understanding:

  • Direct software development experience and comprehension of high-level architecture concepts in modern development.
  • Discuss cloud concepts, APIs, data flows, and infrastructure.
  • Understand security considerations, including network security and data protection.
  • Analyze data and work with high-level database tools.
  • Familiarity with digital projection and audio systems would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in managing and supporting technology appliances and systems
  • Strong knowledge of media players, Linux servers, and cloud computing technology.
  • Technical knowledge of Data networking products, Complex data solutions, and networked equipment that include Routing, Switching, IP Networks, VPNs, Servers and Security.
  • Detailed knowledge of IP Web technologies, particularly security, firewalls, and VPN's
  • Advanced PC skills including Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, Internet
  • Knowledge of POS systems data interfaces would be an asset
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of POS systems data interfaces would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Media Programing systems would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Digital Cinema systems would be an asset
  • Proficiency in programming languages and software development tools would be an asset.

Additional Qualifications:

  • An understanding of Theater Operations is an asset.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.

  • Trilingual English/Spanish/Portuguese is a plus.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering).
  • 2 years of product management leadership across multiple products and teams.
  • 3 years of research and development of software and products in an enterprise setting.  (technical or product roles).
  • 2-3 years of related work experience in IT or a related technology field.
  • 2-3 years of technical experience specifically dealing with WANs and LANs, Internet/IP, and networking hardware (hubs, routers, switches).
  • Experience with software development and high-level architecture concepts.
  • Experience with cloud concepts, APIs, data flows, and infrastructure.
  • Experience analyzing data and working with high-level database tools.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Experience creating and maintaining standard procedures and documentation.
  • Knowledge of digital cinema servers, projectors, and audio systems would be an asset
