Role Summary:

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated leader and problem-solver who works functionally across various departments. As a Data Solutions and Engineering lead, you will find yourself in a unique position of designing data engineering strategies to support business. 

Responsibilities:

  • The resource is responsible for development, implementation, testing, documentation and maintenance of BI and analytics solutions. 
  • This seasoned data engineering professional will possess expertise in data ingestion and egress routines, utilizing best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes orchestrated across public elastic clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP), with a preference for Azure.
  • Additionally, the professional will lead and influence the creation of Data-as-a-product to produce comprehensive, composable, reusable, and modular data assets that offer incremental analytics utility and standardization benefits.
  • The individual will promote and manage data assets/products throughout their lifecycle, including ingestion, curation, transformation, utilization, and retention.
  • Establishing a data governance framework is essential, acting simultaneously as a data steward/data owner and data quality analyst to ensure the integrity of analytical data assets.
  • Responsibilities also include managing and building documentation, such as business glossaries, metadata/data dictionaries for structured and unstructured data sources, and archiving and documenting data lineage using tools like Azure Purview, Alation, Axon, etc.
  • Develops and maintains scalable data pipelines, creating new integrations to accommodate increasing data volume and complexity.
  • Collaborates with analytics and business teams to enhance data models that support business intelligence tools, thereby improving data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making throughout the organization.
  • Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring that production data is accurate and accessible for key stakeholders and business processes.
  • Designs data integrations and frameworks for maintaining data quality.
  • Understands and enforces data quality and governance standards, including data lineage and traceability.
  • Contributes data strategy, ensuring scalability of data and data architecture to meet business requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or related field. Master's degree is preferred
  • 7+ years of experience, specializing in data pipelines, Business Intelligence and Analytics solution development, with a track record in leveraging Microsoft Technologies, Azure Data, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Shiny Apps, Data Bricks etc.
  • 5+ years of hand-on SQL experience (No-SQL experience is a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling for business analytics
  • Ability in managing and communicating data warehouse and release plans to internal clients
  • Experience in interpreting business needs from requests, and rapidly prototype and implement effective technical solutions
  • 5+ years of work experience working in a hybrid data environment and organization with track record of democratizing and productizing data for analytics and insights needs across the org
  • Strong experience with popular database programming languages including SQL, others for relational databases with an exposure to microservices architecture
  • Experience using software version control tools (Git, Azure DevOps, etc).
  • Advanced level of SQL and query performance tuning techniques for Data Integration and Consumption and Minimization of code base/promote less moving parts and management of technical debt 
  • Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies, SAFe certification preferred
  • Background in Cloud Data Warehousing principles and Data Modeling preferred
  • Communication skills and ability to develop and present solutions to all levels of management
  • Must be able to interact effectively and patiently with customers especially while under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with prior experience in data/business architecture, data science role
